Ireland was technically neutral but like other “neutral” countries it actually had skin in both games – Sweden allowed German troops to cross to Russia while permitting escaped PoWs to return to England; Schweiz also assisted escaped PoWs but also sold Oerlikon guns to the Wehrmacht until as late as 1944. Many Irish people fought and died in huge numbers for the allies in both world wars and after – Irish people also contributed to education and built the railways in Britain while being one of the most viciously repressed and maltreated minorities in the British Empire (but because they are not black/brown/coffee-colored, they do not count in young white liberal Left ideology).
